SP Innovation is an 'initiation agency': We spot emerging technology- and market trends, we assess their new product potential and then take the initiative to link R&D-, commercial- and financial parties to bring new concepts to market. Our focus is on clean (electric) power technologies.

We keep an interest in each project started, either in equity or by staying involved as advisors and/or project managers. SP Innovation thus consists of a number of cooperation agreements, partnerships and some intellectual property.

SP Innovation was founded by Sjef Peeraer: Always up to date with the latest technological developments and market trends, Sjef has a nose for the shape of things to come. It is his natural inclination to initiate projects, maintaining a fine balance between creativity and down-to-earth business sense.

With SP Innovation, Sjef has a track record of conceiving novel concepts or spotting high-tech products in their infant stage and bringing them to market. His focus has always been on projects with a 'clean technology' touch.

Before SP Innovation, Sjef worked for an R&D- and production company of a new type of wind turbine. Prior to the wind business -during a four-year break from the world of energy- Sjef worked in Venture Capital (Alpinvest/NIB Capital) and for the Science division of Reed Elsevier, where he was the creator and manager of the science search engine Scirus.

Sjef holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (power plant technology) from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France).
